Why AC Problems Sneak Up on Auburn Drivers

Everything That Can Go Wrong With Your AC
"AC's not working" can mean a lot of different things under the hood and dash. Here's what we're actually checking for and repairing:
Refrigerant Leaks
The most common AC problem. Refrigerant doesn't burn off on its own, so a low level almost always means a leak at a hose, o-ring, or fitting somewhere in the system.
Failed Compressor
The compressor is the heart of the AC system. When it fails, cooling stops completely, and it's often one of the more involved repairs.
Clogged Cabin Air Filter
A dirty cabin air filter restricts airflow through the vents. It's one of the cheapest AC fixes and often overlooked.
Blower Motor Issues
A weak or failing blower motor means the refrigerant system can be working fine, but you still feel little or no air at the vents.
Blocked Condenser

Why isn't my air conditioning blowing cold air?

Why does my AC smell musty when I turn it on?
A musty smell almost always comes from mold or mildew building up on the evaporator core, which stays damp after the AC runs. A dirty cabin air filter can add to the smell. Both are things we can clean or replace.
Do I need to recharge my AC every year?
